The Forgelands

Our first expansion, coming soon. A molten endgame region in the clouded north-east of Verra, with four guild cities, a 13-layer open-world dungeon, the Kraken and the Harbinger. Lawless and full loot.

Coming soon. In development. The Forgelands is not open yet and has no release date. Everything on these pages describes the current design and may change before the region opens.

For years the north-east corner of Verra's map was nothing but painted cloud. The Forgelands is what we are building under it: a molten endgame region of ash plains, lava rivers and black coastline under an aurora sky. It is EmberForge's first expansion, and it is built for groups.

A volcano erupting under green and violet northern lights, with lava running down its flanks
Fire under the northern lights: EmberForge key art.

The land

  • A peninsula joined to Verra by one pass. You enter through a mountain pass that comes down from the highlands onto the plateau. A mountain wall seals the west side, so the pass is the only way in on foot.
  • A coast on three sides. The north, east and south-east shores are open sea, with sport fishing along the whole coast.
  • Forgeheart Isle. Offshore to the east, a giant volcano island holds the Forgeheart volcano, the entrances to the dungeon, a caravan harbour and the Harbinger's grounds.
  • Six smaller islands. Islets to the north-east, each with its own point of interest.
  • Aurora skies. Ribbons of northern light over the region at night. This is Aurora's signature, and it is in development.

What you will find there

  • Four guild and alliance cities: Emberhold, Cinderport, Ashenreach and Skyfire Hold. Guilds and alliances hold them, and rivals can expel them with siege engines. See Cities & sieges.
  • The Forgeheart Caldera: an open-world dungeon thirteen layers deep, with a boss on every layer and Firebrand, the Elder Fire Dragon, at the bottom. See The Forgeheart Caldera.
  • The seas: two harbours, sea caravans over the Ember Crossing, and the Kraken waiting in the Deep. See Seas, harbours & the Kraken.
  • Points of interest: fourteen in all, across the peninsula, the isle and the islets. See Islands & points of interest.
  • The Harbinger: Qluud, the Oracle, descends on Forgeheart Isle. See The Harbinger.

The rules are different here

  • Lawless. Killing another player inside the region brings no corruption. See Lawless & full loot.
  • Full loot. When you die, the contents of your bags and the coin you carry drop for anyone to take. Equipped gear, quest items, cosmetics and soulbound items never drop.
  • Strict anti-cheat. Aurora Borealis runs at her strictest tier inside the region. Any movement or combat cheat removes you from the region on the spot, and the case goes on record for review.
  • Extremely hard to solo. Every mob pocket, camp, point of interest, boss and the Kraken is tuned for groups of level-50 characters. Even the standard mob pocket is designed to kill a solo player of any class, and a coordinated party of four to six is designed to beat it.
