Getting in
How do I connect to EmberForge?
Create your EmberForge account, download the launcher, have your own Ashes of Creation client installed, sign in and press Play. The Play page walks through all four steps.
Do I need my own copy of the game?
Yes. EmberForge distributes no game files, assets or copyrighted content. You must already have a legitimate copy of the client; the launcher connects it to our servers.
Which regions are supported?
North America is first. Europe follows by December if the community can support it. One account works on both.
How do I sign in?
With Discord, Google, or email and a password. All three lead to the same EmberForge account, which also works for the launcher and Discord role-linking. Two-factor (an authenticator app) is available for extra safety.
Money
Is it really free to play?
Yes — 100% free to play, with no subscription. EmberForge is a non-commercial preservation project.
Is it pay-to-win?
No. Ever. Nothing that affects how you play — power, gear, levels, progression — can be bought. Anything offered to thank supporters changes how you look, never how you play.

EmberForge is a non-commercial, fan-made preservation project for a game that is no longer officially available. We distribute no game files, players use their own client, and we are not affiliated with Intrepid Studios or any rights holder. Read the full preservation disclaimer. Is EmberForge affiliated with Intrepid Studios?
No. EmberForge is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Intrepid Studios or Ashes of Creation.
How is EmberForge different from the original servers?
Level 50 is unlocked, the auction house is global, there’s a modern Group Finder, the grind is eased, the anti-cheat lives on the server, and the world is updated continuously. See Features.
Fair play & safety
What is Aurora Borealis?
Our server-side anti-cheat — and a visible Game Master who stands in both starter areas. Because the server owns every item and coin, duplication and gold exploits are impossible by design. Meet Aurora.
What happens if someone cheats?
Violations are logged with evidence and handled through a three-strike policy that ends in a permanent ban. See the Terms of Service.
