Welcome to EmberForge. These terms cover the EmberForge website, accounts, launcher, Discord community and game servers (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. What EmberForge is
EmberForge is a non-commercial, fan-made preservation project run by volunteers. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Intrepid Studios or Ashes of Creation. All game trademarks and intellectual property belong to their respective owners. See the preservation disclaimer.
2. Your game client
EmberForge distributes no game files, assets or copyrighted content. To play you must already have your own legitimate copy of the game client. You are responsible for how you obtained it.
3. Your account
- You need an EmberForge account to play. You can sign in with Discord, Google, or email and password. Two-factor authentication (an authenticator app) is available and strongly recommended.
- You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live if that is higher.
- One person per account. Keep your sign-in details private — you're responsible for activity on your account.
- Don't buy, sell, trade or share accounts or characters.
4. Code of conduct
EmberForge is a community first. Be respectful. We do not tolerate:
- hate speech, harassment, threats or discrimination of any kind;
- doxxing or sharing anyone's personal information;
- spam, scams, phishing or impersonating staff — including Aurora Borealis or any Game Master;
- real-money trading of in-game items, gold or characters;
- content that is illegal, sexually explicit or shocking.
These rules apply in-game, in Discord and anywhere else the EmberForge community gathers.
5. Fair play and Aurora Borealis
Our anti-cheat, Aurora Borealis, runs on the server. You agree not to:
- use cheats, bots, automation, macros that play for you, or modified clients;
- exploit bugs — including item or gold duplication — or fail to report one you find;
- interfere with the servers, other players' connections, or our anti-cheat.
The server keeps transaction and activity logs for fair-play enforcement. Violations are handled with 3-strike enforcement:
- Strike one — the violation and evidence are logged and any illegitimate gains are removed.
- Strike two — a temporary suspension.
- Strike three — a permanent ban.
Severe cases — for example large-scale duplication, attacks on the service or serious harassment — may skip straight to a suspension or ban. If you believe enforcement was a mistake, contact us through support and a person will review the evidence.
6. Optional contributions and cosmetics
EmberForge is free to play with zero pay-to-win. Any optional contribution goes toward server costs, and contributors may be thanked with cosmetic items only, which change how a character looks and never how it plays. Cosmetics are a licence to use an item in EmberForge; they have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and depend on the service continuing to run. Where a payment is refunded or reversed, the related cosmetic is removed.
7. The service is provided as-is
EmberForge is a volunteer preservation effort. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Servers may go down, be wiped, change or close — including if a rights holder asks us to stop. To the fullest extent permitted by law, EmberForge and its volunteers are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service, including lost progress, characters or items.
8. Suspension and closing accounts
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. You can close your account at any time by contacting support.
9. Changes
We may update these terms as EmberForge grows. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and announce significant changes in Discord and the news.
